Talking about a glamping lodge in Patagonia shouldn’t be limited to describing beautiful accommodations in the middle of nature. At least, not when glamping stems from real-world experience, from years of work designing base camps for active tourism, with low environmental impact and a more conscious way of traveling.
In my case, after many years dedicated to active tourism in Latin America, with operational bases in both Patagonia and Costa Rica, I understood that the true value of glamping lies not in resembling a luxury hotel, but in knowing exactly what someone needs when they come to experience nature.

The glamping lodge model I developed in Patagonia didn’t arise from a tourism trend, but from a practical need: to create functional, comfortable, and responsible base camps from which to enjoy outdoor activities without disturbing the environment.
For years, my team and I studied how to establish camps that would:
-Serve as starting points for explorations,
-Offer genuine comfort without excess,
-Maintain an honest relationship with nature.
First, we explored Patagonia, with its demanding climate and wild scale. Then we moved to Costa Rica, to a completely different ecosystem, but with the same principles. This combination of locations allowed us to validate that the model works when it’s well-designed, not when it’s copied.

Patagonia isn’t explored from a closed room. It’s experienced from the outside. That’s why the concept of a base camp is central.
